Fitness motivation-as an action movie could save your life
Contrary to popular opinion, not pop out of bed each morning excited to do my workout, I crave constantly clean my diet that consists of a lot of chicken, sweet potatoes and vegetables. I love what they did all those things to my body, but you need to find creative ways to stay inspired and motivated to dig deep each day. I’m not a fitness Super Hero!
A unique place I can usually count on to restart my fitness motivation is going to the cinema. Because when you walk into a movie theater you are bombarded with sights and smells of all kinds of goodies that will destroy your fitness program, which can be a bit of a surprise! But this is a different topic.
For me, the inspiration begins during the previews. There is something of a preview for a well-made action movie that makes me want to jump out of my chair cinema cushy and start doing a tour of Shaun T pushup-Jack! So by the end of an hour of previews (or maybe it just seems like there’s an hour of them), I’m pretty excited to go back to my next workout, and every temptation to the big tub of popcorn is gone! Then begins the movie.
My wife, Kelly, and I decided to venture into film in the early morning. Although it has been out for a while, I wanted to see what all the hype was about The Hunger Games. This futuristic film, where children fight to the death for the sake of their respective district. (It looks creepy, but it’s actually a rather uplifting movies) In the middle of the movie we get to see the children chosen for their upcoming battle train. Any good installation training is always offers a good jolt of extra motivation.
But what really hit me was when they got in the battle itself. 24 teenagers in a circle while waiting for the game to start, knowing ultimately who you must kill or be killed in order to survive. As the game unfolded and you’ve seen people literally running for their lives, using survival skills and climbing trees-of course my brain jumped to fitness. I thought: “Wow, good thing these guys are fit or would be dead by now! Thank God we don’t live in this society where we need to be in top physical condition to make sure you survive. Then like lightning in my head hit me. ..
What happens if your current physical condition did determine whether living or dead in a moment of crisis?
My mind flashed to 2005, sitting in a hotel room with my in-laws who had evacuated to Dallas from New Orleans. We sat in horror, as we saw the scene after scene of their beloved city being ripped from the tragedy that was Hurricane Katrina. Images that stick out in my mind most were people in terrible physical condition who were trapped and helpless. They were not able to try and survive themselves and completely at the mercy of being saved. I’m not suggesting that all fit did people in New Orleans survived and those who were not, but I have to believe in the face of a catastrophic event, be in decent physical condition does not hurt your chances of survival — or increase the likelihood of being able to save so dear.
If we look honestly, just because we are blessed to live in the USA do not prevent us from dealing with unexpected dangerous times. Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, San Diego fire … the list goes on. I am definitely not a doom and gloom kinda guy but this second 1 flash of a thought while I enjoyed my film reminded me of yet another reason it is important for us to take care of bodies that God gave us-so in times of tragedy not only have a better chance of survival, but can be of service to those who most need it.

A treatise on strength: part 1
This is the first part of my four-part series on strength.
What we normally pictures when we hear the word “strength”? Of all views of “force” is different. This is great muscle men, throwing around weights? Your favourite athlete? A jack of lumber? Hulk? Or is the face of a mother who raised a family on her own? Or a victim of cancer that may enter treatment with a smile and hope?
Personally, I think there are two aspects of the strength:
Physical strength:
“.. .is the ability of a person or animal to exert force on physical objects.”(1)
Mental strength:
“… is the natural psychological edge or developed that lets you get: generally, do better than your opponents with many requests (competition, training, lifestyle) that sport has a performer; in particular, be more consistent and better opponents remaining determined, focused, confident and pressure control.(2)
Although this quote defines mental strength in sports by setting is valid for any circumstance, as it should withstand any life throws at you, just like the sport.
Because this breed? Well it was my passion for awhile now, although I did not know. For a long time are not aware of what I was looking for when I was chasing the martial arts or put myself through discomfort just to see how they turned out. I thought that I didn’t want to be weak, or wanted to be prepared for anything. But over the years I have broke down and down and down and down and maybe continue to whittle away at it, but what I finally came away with is the idea of “strength”: being able to endure, to move, to remain firm and weather all storms, fear not, to protect, to survive and grow old with a straight back and my wits about me. Certainly I haven’t achieved my goal. I’m just saying that I understood what it is.
No matter that the common perception, there will always be a place in this world for the strong; even if you’re not stressed in this age as it was in the past. Force in society today is no longer a prerequisite or even a priority. If you are no longer able to hold its own weight you can get a scooter. If you manage to open the pickle jar you can get a home machine that can do it for you. If you cannot do so through an education or get get the job there are systems in place to make it possible to get free money. I’m not picking on anyone or saying that these things are good or bad. I’m just saying.
In the past, none of these situations would be a problem. If you can’t keep your weight, you die. If you don’t get your food, you die. If you do not work for the food, you die. Quite simple. Our ancestors needed an impressive amount of strength to survive, and everyone has the genetic material to be so strong. The only difference is: need vs. desires. They’ll dig in.
In this series, I’m going to go into two main aspects of what I refer to as “strength”: physical and mental. I want to share my thoughts on what they are, because they are important and how we can build on them. And I say “build on them” because everyone has a degree of force, the key is to never be happy with him and to fight more and more.

Aviation medical
You need to be in a good health bill to be an airline pilot and I’m going to tell you all about how to get an aviation medicine and what they entail.
It’s worth noting now that I can only speak from the UK point of view, as the CAA could have tests other than those elsewhere in the world. So if you’re not from the United Kingdom this info may not be 100% in your case, but the jest should be the same.
The aviation medical 1 class is the root certificate. It costs about £ 300 and you have to go to London Gatwick to do it. I suggest you go to this before commencing any flight training as there is no point to spend money if you’re not going to be able to get a doctor.
The class 1 medical aviation is rather large and it needs to be because you don’t want an airline pilot with health problems as it could be disastrous. It consists of:
A blood test and physical pressure and other stuff you’d expect.
An eye Test-why you should go to the optician first to see if you need any corrections.
The hearing of evidence.
Urine test to test for diabetes.
Hemoglobin Test to measure blood oxygen capacity.
Electrocardiogram-just to check the ticker is correct work.
Lung function Tests-test your ability to expel air from the lungs.
All these tests will take you all day and it is advisable to leave at least 4 hours after the appointment in case they need to do more testing. These visits are to maintain and keep your work and license you need to get tested each year. The bad news is that if you lose it will be out of work and may need to reassess your life that is a pretty big deal, but that is the nature of aviation, one day your here the day after the first leg.
As I said before is it worth getting one before committing any money toward airline pilot training because it might be the best £ 300 you spent. It is also worth noting that for people who simply want to do the PPL just need to get a class 2 doctors that covers most of the same things but not so very thoroughly.
